2 Corinthians 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Pulling down strong holds. Have you ever given much thought to what this scripture is telling us? I believe we do not spend enough time meditating on what we are reading. The word strong hold means fortress or a place that has been fortified.
We do not understand the spirit realm. It is a place of battle. What happens in the spirit realm will be revealed in the physical realm. We need to learn how to fight in the spirit realm. We make a big mistake when we allow what we see in the physical realm form our actions without seeking God.
1 Corinthians 12:7-8 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. (8) For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit.
The gift of wisdom is a supernatural ability to be wise beyond our natural ability. When you have a relationship with God, He will give you wisdom about situations that you could never possibly know without Him. He will give you directions and plans that fit together so perfectly. The funny thing is that usually the wisdom of God will bring you answers that you would never think to try on your own. That is because the ways of God are higher than our ways. He can see the whole picture and we cannot.
2 Samuel 5:8 And David said on that day, whosoever get up to the gutter, and smite the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, the blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
Commentaries of this scripture let it be known that when David says gutter, he is talking about a water way. There was a river that ran through a tunnel in the city. The city that the Jebusites were held up in was a strong hold. It was fortified. David and his men could not get in. But God gave David the wisdom to go in through the water tunnel.
2 Samuel 5:22-25 And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. (23) And when David enquired of the Lord, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. (24) And let it be, when you hear the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shalt bestir yourself for then shall the Lord go out before you, to smite the host of the Philistines. (25) And David did so, as the Lord had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until they came to Gazer.
Here is another time when the wisdom of God is what David needed in order to be victorious in battle. How many times have we been in a battle and instead of enquiring of the Lord we just sat there are tried to fight in our own strength and our own power? We try to fight a spiritual battle with our physical capabilities.
We need to pray for wisdom. God will give it to us liberally. That means He will shower us with wisdom. When we ask for guidance, He will give it to us. When we need a strategy to win a battle, He will give it to us.
There are strong holds in your life that need to come down. There are strong holds in your mind that need to come down. There are strong holds in your city that need to come down. You will wear yourself out and get nothing accomplished if you keep fighting these battles in your own power and your own ability.
It is time to start relying on God. He will give us direction. We only need to ask.
